The Best Office Chair For Pregnancy – Our Top Picks
We spent 36 hours sitting on and reading reviews to pull together our recommendations below and have judged each office chair on comfort, adjustability and price which we believe to be the main considerations when looking for the best office chair for pregnancy.
1. Razer Enki Gaming Chair
A gaming chair in our number one position? Yep, you read that right, our number one pick and best office chair for pregnancy is the Razer Enki Gaming Chair.
It turns out that gaming chairs make for great pregnancy desk chairs. The reason? Support, comfort and the ability to customise the setup to get it just right.
As your bump grows, the your body begins to require more and more support in different places which is why the Razer Enki is so good.
With an almost endless ability to set arms, lean and support to the right degrees you can guarantee that you’ll be comfortable both during and after your pregnancy.
What surprised me the most about the Razer Enik is that it’s extremely breathable. Initially, I was worried that the non-mesh back would lead to a clammy sensation during prolonged use, however, this couldn’t have been further from the truth.
The chair is very breathable while offering just the right amount of cushioning.
What Could Be Better
If there is one downside to the Razer Enik it’s the price. Razer are a well established manufacturer with a history of making high quality PC and gaming products (I’m currently writing this from my sons old Razer keyboard).
While the price is high at over $200, in this case you really do get what you pay for as the chair is just head and shoulders above nearly every other chair on our list.
2. Soontrans Black Gaming Chair
Soontrans is quickly becoming one of the biggest names in office and gaming chairs, with many office workers discovering just how comfortable they are when the pandemic hit and people started working from home.
While the brand offers a number of different chairs, I’ve picked out the Soontrans Black Gaming Chair with FootrestV as this chair is fantastic choice if you’re looking for a chair that’s going to grow alongside your bump.
So what do we like most about the Soontrans Black Gaming Chair with FootrestV?
For me, the things that set this chair apart from other choices are:
- Fantastic head and neck support
- Removable massaging lumbar pillow
- The seat pad
Out of all these features, it’s the seat pad that I like the most. The sponge used in the seat pad provided that goldilocks level of support where it wasn’t too soft and it wasn’t too firm, for my tushy at least, it felt just right.
What Could Be Better
If there was a downside to this chair then it’s the report from some owners that the bolts in the chair can come loose, however, this seems to be limited to a few specific use cases.
3. Herman Miller Embody
No list of best office or desk chairs would be complete with at least one Herman Miller chair. Long lauded as the finest chairs available, it’s easy to see why. They are stylish, functional and comfortable.
So what’s the Herman Miller Embody like (particularly during pregnancy)? If we had to sum it up in one word – comfortable.
The back support on this chair is phenomenal thanks to the ability to apply just the right amount of support to your lower back.
The other thing we really like is how breathable the chair back is. No matter how hot the office, I always felt like the air was getting to my back and never felt too hot or sticky.
What We Don’t Like
The price. Let’s just put it out there, when this chair isn’t on offer it’s RRP is over $1,000 which makes it by far the most expensive chair on our list!
If this chair was $500 cheaper then it would be our top pick but despite all the upsides, we personally could never justify the cost.
The Bottom Line
So there you have it, our candidates for the title of best office chair for pregnancy. Remember, regardless of budget, the most important features to look for are support and the ability to setup the chair to as needed while your bump grows.
